Hello! My name is Takeru. Born in the United States, grew up in Japan, and now I live in Tokyo. I am currently a student. I am passionate about playing piano, practicing quiz bowl, and learning languages. Let me talk about my third hobby of language acquisition since this is an introduction about myself as a tutor. I am not a professional Japanese language teacher. However, I consider myself as a polyglot and that is the strength of me as a Japanese tutor.
When I lived in the United States, I was awarded Stufe 3 (4 is the highest level) in National German Exam administered by AATG and Magna Cum Laude in National Latin Exam. In case if you were curious about my level of English, my TOEFL iBT was 101, Evidence-Based Reading & Writing in SAT was 620, and the Essay for SAT was 20. With this, I can say that I can teach from the perspective of a learner because I myself am a learner of multiple languages.

My motto of language acquisition is “Roma uno die non est condita” which means “Rome was not built in a day.” This accurately describes language acquisition in a nutshell. It can
sometimes be hard to learn a language like Japanese, but if you diligently advance step by step, the goal will be closer than it seems to be. Let’s learn Japanese together!

こんにちは、たけると申します。アメリカで生まれ、日本で育ち、今現在は東京に住んでいます。今現在は学生です。趣味はピアノを弾く事、クイズ研究、そして語学学習、今回はこの語学学習に着目してもらいたいと思います。日本語教師の免許は保有してませんが、言語学習に興味があり、ノウハウに精通している事が私の「肯定的側面」と言えるでしょう。

アメリカに滞在していた時に、AATGが実施する全国ドイツ語検定でレベル４中レベル３まで到達しました。ラテン語検定でもマグナ・クム・ラウデを獲得したこともあります。また、私の英語力がどの程度のレベルというのを具体的な数値で表すと、TOEFL iBTのスコア１０１点、SATのEvidence-Based Reading & Writingは６２０点、そしてそのEssayが20点です。

つまり「言語学習者の観点から日本語を教える」、これが私の「売り」です。有名な俚諺で「ローマは一日にしてならず」というのがあります。これは言語学習の理念を的確に表していて、英語を第二次言語として勉強し始めた時もこれが私の座右の銘でした。堅実に、一歩一歩、確固たる自分の努力を信じて、私と一緒に日本語を学びましょう！
