Hi, everyone. I’m MIDORI. I’ve been in Hong Kong since 2021. My husband is HongKonger. I was teaching Japanese as a full time Japanese teacher at one of the Japanese language school in Hong Kong for 2 years. I was mainly teaching Basic – intermediate level Japanese at the school. After graduated the university, I worked in restaurants and a hotel as a hospitality staff in Japan. So if you would like to learn Japanese for service industry, I am the right teacher for you.

My Japanese lesson style is more focus on the speaking and listening part, please do not worry of making any mistakes. For those students who would like to take JLPT exams or would like to learn Japanese grammar step by step, I will follow the Japanese textbook to teach you. For those students who would like to improve the speaking skills, I will help to find the topics you are interested, we will talk about it by playing roleplay games etc. Also I will share those popular slangs for young generations in Japan, business terms and polite and formal way of speaking Japanese, I will customize your Japanese lesson for your individual needs.

I want to support you to improve your Japanese skills, including listening skills, speaking skills etc. Let’s start to study Japanese and broaden your world!

皆さん、はじめまして。MIDORIと申します。香港人の夫との結婚をきっかけに２年前に香港へ来て、日本語学校で初中級の日本語を教えていました。日本ではレストランやホテルでの接客業をしていました。

私の授業スタイルは、明るく、楽しく会話できるように心がけています。たくさん間違えても大丈夫です。間違いを恐れないで、どんどん話してください！JLPT対策や文法をしっかり勉強したい方には教科書に沿った授業をしていきます。日常会話を上達させたい方には、設定したトピックについて会話したり、ロールプレイを取り入れた授業をしていきます。他にも、最近流行っている言葉や表現、ビジネス表現や正しい敬語の使い方など、学習者の希望を取り入れて授業を進めていきます。

会話を上達させたい方には、教師が学習者の興味・関心に合わせてトピックを設定し、会話練習をします。ロールプレイをしたり、動画を見たりすることもあります。

MIDORI先生へ「そうですね」と「そうでしたね」の違いについて教えていただけないでしょうか?

MIDORI先生’s Answer:
●「そうですね」は、相手の言葉に賛成や同意の気持ちを表すときに使います。
例① A：今日はきのうより寒いですね。
Ｂ：そうですね。
また、意見を求められたとき、英語の「Well…,～」や「Let me see…,～」と同じように、次の言葉を考えている間、沈黙にならないように使います。
例② Ａ：コーヒー、温かいのと冷たいの、どちらがいいですか。
Ｂ：そうですね…、温かいの、お願いします。

●「そうなんですね」は、相手から新しい情報や説明を聞いて、「初めて知りました／状況を理解しました」と相手に伝えたいときに使う返事です。
例Ａ：わたし、ハイキングが趣味で、週末はいつも近くの山に登りに行くんです。
Ｂ：そうなんですね。獅子山に登ったことはありますか。

MIDORI先生へ「楽しい」と「嬉しい」の違いについて教えていただけないでしょうか?

「楽しい」は友達と一緒に遊んだり、自分の趣味をするときに感じる幸せな感情です。
「嬉しい」は人にプレゼントをもらった時に感じる幸せな感情です。

●日本の宗教（神道）について●

日本には神道（しんとう）という宗教があります。キリスト教などの一神教とは違い、世の中にある全てのものや自然現象の中に神様がいると考えられています。「たいていの日本人は無宗教だ」とよく言われますが、熱心な信者が少ないだけで、実際のところ、日本人の考え方や日本の伝統行事、風習には神道が深く関わっています。

例えば、お正月に食べる「おせち」は季節の始まりに作物の収穫のお礼に神様にお供えした特別な料理が由来だと言われています。お正月に玄関に飾る「門松（かどまつ）」「しめ縄（なわ）」は神様を家に招き入れるための目印として飾ります。

大きな神社はたいてい森に囲まれています。ぜひ訪れて、神聖な空気を味わってみてください。
