Hello, everyone! My name is KANO. I was born and raised in KOBE and had lived in Tokyo as well. Previously, I worked in the trading industry.

Although I have only lived in Hong Kong for a year, I love here because of its energetic city, beautiful nature, and many other attractions and new discoveries.

Let’s learn Japanese in a fun way, starting with familiar topics that interest you, such as anime, travel, and food! My Japanese lessons are customized to your specific needs and interests.

Everyone has different goals, such as traveling to Japan, working, studying for exams, understanding Japanese in anime and dramas, or expanding their vocabulary. I will support you in learning Japanese effectively and enjoyably, adapting the text and free conversation topics to match your objectives.

I love talking to people and experiencing different cultures, so I am really looking forward to chatting with you all in Japanese! (If anyone is interested in Kansai dialect or Kansai culture, I would be happy to teach you that too!)

My lessons are mainly in Japanese, but I can also incorporate some simple English. I'm flexible with the location and time, so please feel free to discuss it with me. I would be delighted to be a bridge between my beloved Hong Kong and Japan. I look forward to meeting you all!

皆さん、こんにちは。私の名前はKanoです。出身は関西の神戸です。以前は貿易関係の仕事をしていました。

香港に住んでまだ１年ですが、活気あふれる街や自然などの魅力や新しい発見が多く、香港が大好きです。アニメ、旅行や食べ物など、興味のある身近なトピックから楽しく日本語を学びましょう！

私のレッスンは、ご希望の内容や興味に合わせたオーダーメイドの授業です。

皆さん、日本旅行のため、仕事のため、試験のため、アニメやドラマの日本語を理解したい！、話せる言語を増やしたい！など、目標は様々かと思います。

目標に合わせて、テキストやフリートーク内容をアレンジしながら、楽しく、確実に日本語を学べるようサポートします。私は人と話すことと異文化交流が大好きなので、皆さんと日本語でたくさんお話ができる事を楽しみにしています！（もし関西弁や関西の文化に興味がある人がいれば関西弁もぜひお教えします！）

私のレッスンは日本語がメインですが、簡単な英語を混ぜたレッスンも可能です。場所や時間も調整可能ですのでぜひ相談してくださいね。大好きな香港と日本のかけ橋になることができれば嬉しいです。皆さんにお会いできることを楽しみにしています。

Japanese Teaching Approach

基本的には教科書にそって進めますが、ご希望や学習目的によっては補助教材やオリジナル教材を使います。会話中心の場合は、トピックやシチュエーションを用意しますので楽しくお話しましょう。リクエストによっては、日本のドラマやアニメを観ながらの会話練習や、外に出て実際の買い物等のシチュエーションを利用して教えます。

For conversation-focused lessons, I will prepare topics and situations so we can have fun talking. Depending on your request, we can also practice conversation while watching Japanese dramas or anime or use real-life situations like shopping.

KANO先生へ「遠慮します」と「遠慮させていただきます」の違いについて教えていただけないでしょうか?

KANO先生’s Answer:

どちらも「断る」時に使いますが、相手への敬意の大きさに違いがあります。

・遠慮します
自分の意見で「断り」をきっぱり伝える表現です。
例）今回のパーティは遠慮します。
Ex). “I’ll have to decline this party”

・遠慮させていただきます
相手に「断り」を許していただくという表現を含んだ、丁寧な言い方でう。
例）せっかくのお誘いですが、今回は遠慮させていただきます。
Ex). Thank you for the invitation, but I think I’ll have to decline this time.”

KANO先生へ「分かりました」と「了解しました」の違いについて説明してくれませんか?

KANO先生’s Answer:

どちらも相手に「理解した」「わかった」ことを伝える時に使います。

特にビジネスシーンでの使い分けには注意が必要です。

・分かりました
同僚や親しい人との会話や日常会話で使います。
　例）（先輩に対して）「明日の会議の件、分かりました。準備しておきます。」
　Ex). “(To my mentor) I understood about tomorrow’s meeting. I’ll prepare the materials.”

・了解しました
部下や後輩との会話で使います。
目上の人に使うと失礼にあたります。
　例）（後輩に対して）「会議の件、了解しました！共有ありがとう」
　Ex) “(To my junior) I understood about meeting! Thanks for sharing.”

KANO先生へ「実は」と「本当は」の違いについて説明してくれませんか?

KANO先生’s Answer:

・実は
いままで話していなかった事や情報を伝える時に使います。
例）実は、私は双子なんです。
Ex). “Actually, I’m a twin.”

・本当は
本当の気持ちや隠していたことを伝える時に使います。
　例）あの時は言えませんでしたが、本当は野菜が嫌いです。
　Ex). “I couldn’t say it then, but I actually hate vegetables.”

Ask KANO Teacher Japanese Culture Questions

私が日本文化だと感じるのは「言葉」です。
私は日本語には他の言語では訳すことができない、美しい言葉がたくさんあると思っています。
例えば、日本語には音で表す言葉がたくさんあります。
具体的には…雨の降り方でも、「しとしと（静かに）」「ぽつぽつ（降り始め）」「ざあざあ（激しく）」などがあります。
中でも私が好きな日本語は「木漏れ日」（Komorebi）です。意味は「木の枝や葉の隙間から太陽の光が差し込む光景」のことです。
この光景を一言で表すことのできる言語は他にないのではないでしょうか。
