日本語ーすみませんsumimasen

The Japanese word sumimasen is used in a lot of different situations. For example, in instances when you apologize for being late, causing trouble, stepping on someone’s foot, or lightly bumping into someone, sumimasen is used to mean “I am sorry”.

It may also be used to mean “excuse me” when you ask another person to come, call out to see if anybody is at home, or when you want to ask a question.

Also, when expressing gratitude to someone it may be used to mean “thank you”. As you can see, sumimasen is a very useful word. How ever, instead of relying on it in all situations, you should also learn how to use the more conventional words – gomennasai to apologize, and arigatoo to express gratitude.
